    Hi all,

Dublin Comic Con will be happening this August in the National Show Center in Swords, Co. Dublin. While comics will be a part of the event, we will also have a major focus on movies and tv programs with everything from replicas and original costumes and props on display to opportunities to meet actors, SFX guests, participate in workshops etc.

There is still a lot more information to be released as the event gets closer but in the mean time check out our links below to keep up to date.

Nice! Is this the first one in Ireland?

It is the first one of this type and scale.

There has previously been other Comic Cons which focus mainly on Comics, Anime, Table Top gaming etc. Ours will cover all genres and will have our own personal displays of props and costumes filling up the venue as well. Such as the Predator and screen used necromonger suit in the banner.

    And the cost of tickets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 390 ✭✭kwalsh000

Tickets are not available as of yet (we hope to have them for sale in the next month or so we just have some final details to nail down) but they won't be pricey (you won't be spending 20 Euro per ticket or anything like that).

The best way is to keep an eye on the website or FB page for when tickets are announced.

    M1/Airport.

Turtyturd is right, the M1/Airport exit off the M50 would be the closest and from there it would be between 5-10 minute drive to the Show Centre itself.

That's the one. Right beside The Coachman's pub.

Nice one. Just "Liked" your page. This should be good, I hope.

Thinking of going dressed as Dredd. I best get on that....

Great to hear everyone! We are actually encouraging people to attend in costume if possible.

As time gets closer we will be showing a few more costumes and props that will be on display (not all of them though as we want something to be a surprise!) as well as listing more of our guests and attractions.

Ooh - will seriously think about going to this.

Costumes, interesting idea. I don't think my giant Minnie Mouse costume will go well. A six foot minnie mouse is just weird.

Of course it will! The children there would love it!

Or you could go a female frank the bunny route! If anyone is wanting to make a new costume then you should check out some of the following sites below for information on making/or buying costumes.

Will the same events and displays be happening on both days? Is it worth my while to go both days, or will I see everything on the first?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 390 ✭✭kwalsh000

The majority of displays will be there on both days but the panels/events/workshops will be different each day such as the costume contest and charity auction.

In terms of activities and displays there will be more than enough to keep you entertained for the whole day (or two !)

Just back pretty impressed with its first outing. Hopefully it can grow and go from strength to strength. Pretty good turn out also.

Would like to 2nd that...was afraid it would be a shambles like the Star Wars 'event' in City West a few years back but it was a good day out...some of the costumes on display were brilliant. Really looking forward to D.I.C.E now.

There was a photographer from a newspaper there yesterday....does anyone know when the pictures will be in the paper?

DICE will be more on an artists event. in a way it's a pity both are not combined.
