    Hey folks.
Im taking a look at 2d games at the moment.
been searching around youtube for good tutorials on making animated sprites.
    Seems there isnt much around.

    Music is very annoying too.
This is all I found so far and its helped me get my first sprite done, using Photoshop CS2.
Its not that great, but hopefully someone can help me improve.

    4 hours later
http://s7.postimg.org/k2zyu31zb/RR_walk_1.gif :D used photshop and made head/body/arm+gun/each leg in seperate layers and moved them for each frame.

Has anyone some tips on a proper workflow for animating?
I want to make a character sprite sheet or even a load of seperate png's with each frame on them.
I did a character standing still test there, to see how it would work out.

But to start on a full walking cycle sounds daunting.

Il be using contruct 2 and have access to a student version of sketchbook pro aswell if thats any better.Actually if there is any other autodesk programs I might need, let me know, while I have student access.
Was considering making all the different body parts from the side view in sketchbook pro and just dragging them around and rotating them to make each animation frame.

Also I have seen someone using a 3d rendering program called lightwave to animate a 3d model with textures applied and just recording the frames and exporting them as png files to gamemaker.
    Looked pretty awesome and fast.
So if anyone knows if I can do that in 3dsmax or blender, that might get me going alot faster.

Lastly im open to hearing any and all info on sprite making and 2d games etc.

Oh yeah, I cant code at all and im too busy in a game dev course to focus on learning programming :(
I want to learn C# but might have to wait till after that finishes.

http://spriters-resource.com was a very useful site when I was trying to learn this. Also, one of the guys on http://www.gamedevelopers.ie is looking at running a few workshops in Dublin on creating art assets and he's been asked to do 2D work a lot.

Sorry I don't have any really good info, but I was a terrible artist :D
