Ive absolutely no mains water in my house tonight as its been purposely shut off.

water will be shut off each night for the next 3 weeks or so.

DCC have shut it off as they are claiming that its due to a serious water shortage in their resevoir in the Dublin Mountains.

How the fcuk can there be a water shortage with all the rainfall and also with all the snowmelt??

All hype to help justify the Water Meters in peoples minds.I have a friend who lives beside Blessington lakes for 40 years. He told me that he has never seen the level in the lake drop by more that 2 to 3 feet in all that time.

Supposedly there is an "algae problem" now aswell.

    So whats the next excuse/reason???

Maybe it will be that North Korea will be launching a long range missile at us tomorrow evening???:pac:

Nightly Water Restrictions to apply to all areas of Dublin City this Weekend
Dublin City Council is urging consumers all over the City to conserve water this weekend, to restore levels in our treated water reservoirs to normal. Nightly restrictions will be put in place from 10.00pm to 7am or 9.00am each night, from Thursday 28th March to Tuesday 2nd April. This will assist us in replenishing treated drinking water levels to a normal level. A review of levels will be conducted again on Tuesday next, to determine if our reservoirs are adequately full such that the restrictions can be lifted.

The reason for the restrictions is twofold. Water demand is currently running at a higher than average due to the unseasonably cold weather which has caused an increase in leakage. Our crews are repairing any breaks to the public mains as they arise. To help us in this regard we are asking people to report any location where they see water rising or running over the ground.

They can do so by using the Emergency Telephone Number 01-6796186 outside office hours. Coupled with the cold weather, a minor production issue at our Roundwood Water Treatment Plant has also caused a reduction in supply, further reducing water levels. It should be stressed that there is no problem with the quality of treated drinking water or with storage levels of untreated/raw water.

In an effort to maintain storage at a sustainable level, we are asking consumers to help us in restoring adequate water supplies by restricting their use of water as much as possible. We are asking people to visit www.taptips.ie for easy water saving tips. We will be reducing pressures throughout the system over the weekend in order to conserve supplies. While we will make every effort possible to maintain pressures during peak demand periods, but pressures will be reduced during the times indicated above. This will result in lower pressures and in some cases possible loss of supply. People may notice reductions in pressure or loss of supply throughout the entire city.

Dublin City Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these restrictions and will do everything possible to minimise their scale and duration. We are asking consumers bear with us while we work to restore the water supply to normal. Water is precious. Let’s conserve it.

    ENDS.

And today its gets even better..well actually a whole lot worse.

According to DCC...a "3rd party" burst the main water distribution pipe when doing ground works close to it yesterday.

So now ontop of the water restrictions allready we have a completely severed mains water pipe to contend with and DCC do not know when this severed pipe will be fixed.

It just gets better and better, doesnt it?????:pac::pac:

    A funny fact:

Too much rain/snowfall can cause water shortages!!!

Problem is run off from farming lands etc, causes pollution of the water supply with what comes out of the rear end of the cattle etc.

Or maybe they just decided to piss people off by turning off the water for no reason, or conspiracy over water meters, get real folks.

Maybe Phil Hogan and Irish Water could get real with regards the cost (several hundread euro) to fit a water meter to each home.

Wonder what excuses they have lined up for the massively inflated meter supply/fitting costs???:pac::rolleyes:

But will Phil Hogan and "Irish Water" do that then and not hit every homeowner in the country with a bil for it????

Last time Hogan opened his gob he was saying 40 euro a year over 20 years.:rolleyes:

And all this has what to do with a water shortage and a burst mains?
