The rope on my Stovax Riva 66 is a too far gone to reglue it back on.

Where in Dublin could I get a 2 meter long replacement length of 14mm rope seal for the stove door?

    Need it asap....tomorrow really.

Tried Heating Distributors in Finglas, but no luck.:(

    Thanks.:)

Any hardware / DIY shop deserving of the name should have the rope. Have a look in the Golden pages under "Solid fuel stoves" or some-such.

I doubt that B&Q would stock it.
    Could be wrong though.

Don't know if its your exact one but woodies in swords, not airside, had some down the back where the wood is that resembled what your looking for. I saw it and thought that it was like the ones my parents have around the plates on their Stanley.

Tried them this morning...12mm rope is the thickest rope that they stock.

    I need 14mm for the Rva 66.

    Damn it anyway.:(:pac:

Sorry for the very late reply to this......

Just wanted to get back to you and say thankyou.

Bought the kit from Mullen Domestic and they were so nice and easy to deal with.

Also alot cheaper too, than most of the Irish stove places and plumbers merchants shops.

    Thanks again for your help.:)

    Yep,straight forward indeed.

    Take off door from stove.

Take off old rope seal and scrape out old glue residue from the groove.

Then apply the new rope glue along the groove and place the new rope seal in.

Place stove door back on,and close it.

Leave it closed for at least 10-12 hours so that the rope seal sets properly....(according to my Stovax Booklet).

Then next day light a small fire and each night after that, build up the size of the fire.

Bit of a problem with the stove rope that I got for my Riva 66.

Stove was starting to let out some fumes and also the fire was burning out of control the other evening.

Turns out that Stovax have the wrong part number in the booklet and also on their website.:(

Code is down as 5000 and is a 14mm black stove rope..which is what they say is needed for the Stovax Riva 66 cassette stove.

    Thats actually the wrong number.

Its actually 5001 and that is a 16mm rope seal.

Had to ring Stovax in the UK this morning, and they told me what the problem was/is.

So back off with the 14mm stove rope and then on with the new 16mm stove rope seal.

All I want to do is light me stove and enjoy the heat....:pac::D
