Retro fitting options to a car

Anyone know if it is common or easy to get places in the Wicklow/Dublin area to retrofit options to a car?

Getting an Astra GTC and wondering if it would be easy enough (if not cheap) to get the parking sensors or CD/Navigation (Navi 600) system put in it, down the line.

Aftermarket parking sensors are easy enough but it's still possible to retrofit OEM ones. Best picking up the parts from eBay and getting a dealer to fit them.

Radio upgrades possible as well to an extent - some features require extra wiring to the steering wheel which isn't possible without replacing the entire wiring loom. An easier option is to replace it with an aftermarket stereo from the likes of Pioneer.

Just a note, if you intend to supply the part - first make sure the person who will fit it is ok with it.
Not everyone will fit a part they haven't sourced themselves and know the quality of in case there's trouble down the road.

I'm waiting on one too. The Navi 600 can't be retrofitted and the parking sensors will be aftermarket but possible. Dealer said 250 painted for rears. I went for the navi and front and rear sensors.

    Which one you getting?

2nd hand 2.0l Sri model, with bi xenon lights. The navi 600 would be nice but I really would like the parking sensors. Might look into them down the line, 250 ain't bad. Would be better with the navi 600 unit as I think that would then have the camera too.

GTC doesn't get the reverse camera anyway as there isn't anywhere to fit it like the 5 door. There's a thread on astra owners network about this. You might be better off going with a double din and eBay camera for that but you'll loose access to the car settings menu. From reading around changing things afterwards on the GTC seems a right ball ache compared to the 5 door as you need specific software and coding from opel to do most things. They may or may not give you the coding is the way it's working apparently and if you request it you may loose warranty for messing with the car.

I'm getting the same model and engine with a few extras too. The xenons on them look good alright with the changing of the beam, looking forward to those especially.

if I was buying new I'd have gone for the nav and the parking sensors, but I don't have the money to get a new Sri version, so I've to make do with what I can get. Couldn't find a second hand version with the extras. The xenon lights were a must. Heard the normal bulbs are poor, and I had my fill of crap lights with my old Mazda, death trap it was!

Will ask the local Opel garage if they'd be able to retrofit the rear parking sensors at some point.

I originally went looking at a year old one with xenons and only went to another garage to get one to see would it fit in my drive (steep decline where it might have bottomed out). Got a price on a new one with xenons, led rear lights, bigger spoiler, climate, folding mirrors, bluetooth, 19s, nav and sensors for not a whole lot more. Difference was 4k, like all new opels there's a healthy discount. No harm in pricing one up as you might be surprised. I can give you my dealers details if you want as the sales guy is probably the best I have ever dealt with and worth chancing for a price I'd say. Pleasantly surprised by the whole thing so far.
