Cars stolen (sorta)

    hi,

Before I begin this story I want avoid any bashing or "you shouldn't have done that" etc. Save it for After hours please.OK so no that that's all said,

An elderly friend of mine has a healthy interest in all things motors and buys and sells older cars / restores them etc. He also spends quite a bit of time in the North buying car parts etc.

Anyway he had some difficulty moving on three large V8 4x4s and though it best that he try to sell them in the north. He brought them up to a 'garage' in North that he regularly deals with and requested that he leave them on display there. They could then sell the 4x4s on his behalf and presumably take a % of the sale price.

Anyway here's where it gets interesting, he also give the guys the log books for the vehicles (foolish I know, but spilt milk and all that).

Anyway the guys are now ignoring all calls and it appears that they're trying to pull a fast one this guy. Possibly trying to keep the cars / resell them / clone them. He's now quite distraught about the whole thing and doesn't know what to do. He's avoided the whole situation for the last 3 months as it's caused him so much distress. The vehicles are worth about 20k euro so it's worth following up, I'm just wondering whats the next best course of action?

I'd appreciate any constructive ideas? thanks

Yes, but which law? Guards or PSNI? Now are things affected given that he passed on the log books (unsigned of course)?

Maybe take a trip up and see if they are still there? Or call off another phone enquiring to buy one?

Approach the PSNI? The cars should probably be regged in his name still.
If they've changed in the last 3 months it should show on motortax.ie / Vehicle Transaction Enquiry
