I've been trying to connect my digital piano unsuccessfully to my Windows 7 laptop for the lat week and it's driving me mad  I bought a decent MIDI cable and hooked it up but nothing I do seems to work :( When I hook everything up. the computer makes the 'added hardware' noise but when I go into the My Computer section, it's not showing up. When I go into the Control Panel-Hardware and Sound-Device and Printers, it shows up as USB MIDI 2. when I click into this, it comes up as USB Composite Device and Yamaha Audio Device. The driver that is being used for the Yamaha Audio Device is not the proper Yamaha driver, I have tried updating the driver to the Yamaha one but every time I do, it says 'driver update complete' but when I go back into the settings, nothing has changed. I have tried disabling/enabling and uninstall/reinstall. Nothing works :confused:

I have the proper Musicsoft Yamaha software but it keeps saying 'device not found'. When I plug everything in initially, the little red light on the USB plug of the cable comes on but it goes off again after a minute or so. I have tried going into the device manager and turning off the 'turn device off to save power' function on all of the USB Root Hub but it doesn't work. I have downloaded the new Yamaha MIDI driver but it will go through the installation and then say 'cannot complete as device not found' even when the red light is on the cable...... AAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!

I'm considering buying a Yamaha interface to see will that work. Other than that, I will be tearing my hair out and throwing the laptop through the window. Any advice please help!
