Censorship in gangland article

Not sure if anyone saw the article in the limerick post about the death of a woman who had ties to the limerick gangs. Apprarently there was backlash from her family and now the limerick post has taken down the article online, although you can still see it on their Facebook page.

Why would they take it down? Is it a legal issue or just censorship because of the backlash?

Defamation/libel possibly if it's only speculation and nothing hard to prove her links.

Hard to know without seeing the article.

Google 'limerick post gangland' and you'll see the article, but when you click, there's a broken link.

Reading the stories on that facebook page is fairly depressing.

You can't defame the dead. And it's only defamation if it is untrue.

Did it say anymore other than her being the mother of a gangland murder victim? Because that's just factual, so strange it would warrant removal of the article.

That's the thing. It would be quite alarming if it was taken down because there was protest from her family, seems like their influence is very strong.

There's lots of other stories (unfortunately) about people killing themselves but they are not taken down. Given that, and that apparemtly there was a comment made by the family on the limerick posts website to take it down, lead to believe that they removed it on purpose. Would they do that for other families? Or is it because of this particular family's 'influence'?
