    Hi lads,

The one im thinking of us the S&W 617 .22lr. From what I can see, they come with either 6 or 10 shot cylinders. Is it possible to be restricted to 5?? Isn't 5 shots the max for unrestricted??

    Thanks.

    Tommy

It can indeed, I spoke to a dealer in Dublin about one a while back. Can't remember how it was being done though.

If you contact Paddy on gunshop.ie he can help you, as he imports and has access to a specialist gunsmith.

It was Paddy who I was talking to. The lead time is nuts though, about 9 weeks !!

Insert a tight fitting brass pin into any cylinder chamer that you wish to "restrict". This has been accepted by AGS in my area.

It's a simple job to plug one of the chambers and a few lads in my club (Harbour House) have had it done to their revolvers. As long as it's plugged properly, then the Gardai have no problem with it.

Nine weeks isn't that long to wait for an imported gun. You'll probably be waiting that long for the licence eitherways.

Once it will not fall out AGS seem happy from what I have seen.

As with restricting the number of cartridges a pump action can hold, or not loading 6 rounds into an unrestricted .22 pistol (that has a 5 round magazine) it depends on trust and honesty to "work".
