Hi all, I am planning to start recording from the Ariva 120 combo box, can you please recommend an external HDD with an independent power supply that will work perfectly.

If recording a football match for instance what is the capacity needed

    Thanks in advance.

Allow roughly 4Gigs for every hour of HD content.

I bought one in Aldi and it does not need an independent power supply just plug it into the combo unit, works great.

Apparently they are not recommended, I have a My Passport 1 TB 3.0 USB, do you think that it will work? My biggest worry is to damage the receiver. All your advice are more than welcome :)

For peace of mind I would suggest a separately powered HDD ...... the manufacturers recommend it ......
