Just wondering if anyone here is doing Gaelforce North this year or has done it in the past? Any tips or observations would be greatly appreciated!

I'm mostly a runner (half-marathons, marathons etc) have done bits n pieces of trail runs but nothing too major. I haven't done much cycling in a few years and haven't been in a kayak in about 20 years

    Specifically my questions are:

Bike: road bike or mountain bike? I have both although my road bike will need a major re-haul or even replacement if I go with a road bike. Would a MTB with slick tyres do the trick?

Shoes: regular running shoes or trail shoes?

    Thanks in advance
