Blue Screen Nightmare

    Hi,

Freaking out a bit here and could use some help. First off: I'm using a Lenova laptop with Windows 7.

Everytime I turn on my laptop I get the error message:
"The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed. Attempt to resume again?" and the options are "Continue with system resume" or "Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu"

I try to go for the first option and I get the blue screen of death. I am scared to go for the second option. Anybody know what this does? If it just turns the laptop off and starts if from the reboot that is grand but is there any chance that it will wipe the laptop?

    Thanks!
    Gumby.

The blue screen will give you an error code that will help with diagnosing the issue somewhat.

Should be in the form: 0x000000050

Or something along those lines. Sounds like the hard drive has failed.

You laptop has saved a copy of what you were doing last on it. Deleting restoration data will only delete what you were doing and windows will start as if it was turned off properly the last time you used it.

Check power settings, this is mostly caused by the machine only going to standby, when you select hibernate.

'often caused by faulty driver' as quoted by microsoft, more often you haven't selected hibernate.

however, most HP's i have seen will not hibernate properly no matter what settings are
