    Hi Guys,

I've settled on the XPS 12 since I do a lot of travelling and want something that's
    1. Fairly light
    2. Powerful
    3. Has a full keyboard
    4. Touchscreen

I've read most of the reviews online, but has anyone here experience with them?

Also, what's the typical dell delivery time in ireland?

    Cheers,
    M

Where does it have a "full keyboard"? I don't see a separate numpad.

Dell delivery time is usually 4-5 working days (if they have the model you want in storage).

1250 yoyos is quite a steep price (you'll need industrial-grade soldering skills, if you think of buying the cheaper version and upgrading the system memory yourself), IMHO there are better ultrabooks for that money.

    Thanks for the reply.

What would you suggest instead? The ideapad yoga?

    I like the tablet/ultrabook combination

I think 4 GB RAM in a 1,000 Euro laptop is a joke.

From all convertibles I have seen, I like Lenovo's idea best. And Yoga has the oprion to upgrade the system memory. It's got one slot and can take up to 8 GB RAM, but it requires disassembly as there is no service hatch.

I'm in the market for an ultraportable myself. What would you recommend over the Dell..?

Not even after a touch screen, Just Dell slimness.

If it is just slim you want, have a look at the PCS UltraNote... for the price of the Dell, you'll get a full HD IPS display, quad core i7, 16 GB RAM and 240 GB SSD... in other words, a real beast of a laptop.

Or look up the ASUS ZenBook Prime UX31A, but be warned, this ain't cheap. ;)

Well slim and also small screen..

Like a macbook air 11 inch body with a "beast of a laptop" in it.

The 15 inch pcs would be too big.

They also have the 11.6" Inferno featuring a GT 650M. Configured with a quad Core i7 3630M, 8 GB RAM, 120 GB SSD (£748/€886) it is probably as "beasty" as it gets at this size. (If you want a better battery life, select the i7 3632QM instead)

But it ain't as slim as an ultrbook, such high-performance components do require sufficient cooling, which means more space. ;)

Ultrabooks are never about "beastiness" but about battery life (hence the ULV dual core processors) and indeed the "show off effect", which of course comes at a price.

Yeah I get ya. I don't really need a beast I spose! Just want slim and small to throw in my bag. And the most taxing thing I would be running ever would be eclipse. So the Windows equivalent of the Macbook air 11 is what I'm looking for, nice screen/touchpad and backlit keys.. Be tempted to just get one of them and install Windows on it, one on sale in Dublin for 950, i5, 4gb, 128. But no doubt I can get a Windows equivalent for cheaper...?

No, you won't find a Windows Ultrabook with SSD and backlit keyboard for less than 950 yoyos.

This MBA is 2nd hand or refurb?
