Court Summons Reissued New Date

Just say a summons was issued with a certain date for a court sitting. If less than a week before the sitting, another letter was issued stating that there was an error regarding the date sent out and there was actually no Court sitting on that date, would it be permissible for the summons to be re-issued with a new date on it?
Would the summons have to be worded the same as the original or would it be possible to alter the alleged offence on it?
What would be the case if there was in fact a Court sitting on the original date and the letter stating the contrary was incorrect?

you talking about a criminal summons....? If it was served there may be a problem for the prosecution. Technically the error should have been spotted prior to service then the summons can be painlessly re issued.
