Wondering if anyone on here who has 3 young children (i.e. all needing a car seat of some description) DOES NOT own what would be seen as a people carrier/MPV?

Anyone own a Golf, Passat, A4, Avensis, Insignia, Mondeo etc and still manage?

You might need something like this:

I feel your pain, family circumstances need not force family-cliche car!

Much depends on the car seats you use. We have a Volvo V70 which is huge, Mondeo estate is similar, Merc E-class too, Passat almost as big.

We did manage 3 in my Alfa156 but it was a squeeze.

The problem is not necessarily fitting the seats in - it's getting access to the seat belts once they are in and applies mostly to children in booster seats. My wife gets two forward facing child seats with their own harnesses and a booster seat into the back of a Mazda 3 - smaller than most of the cars listed. It does however require some back breaking acrobatics to get the seat belt closed on the booster seat. The bigger seats are fine once they're in as you don't need to go at the seat belt, instead using the seat's harness.
