On my balancing statement of PAYE for 2012 I had an overpayment of tax. In "Treatment of Result" it shows "Offset against PAYE €179.12 2005". Checking my balancing statement for 2005 I see an underpayment of €179.12 with the note "This underpayment will not be collected at this time".

How far back can Revenue go to collect arrears?

    Four years normally.

    Ten for fraud.

A recent FA extended this but off hand think it is six but not sure.

Realistically they can only go back as far as bank records allow. The bank records go back 5.5 years because of Data Protection legislation
