What extra requirements do you have to meet to become Bord Bia quality assured?

The bonus is gone from 6c/kg to 12c/kg in the last few weeks. That's around €40 an animal, €200 on a load of 5... not to be sniffed at! ;)

^That's what I was thinking. Not sure we'd be up to scratch though

    Priority

    Herd register movement records
    Medicine cabinate
Remedies records kept and purchase records
    Farm safety statement
    Yard reasonably tidy

Bord via not the worst. Bit of handy work n Ull get it.

Ensure proper records of doses, treatment given are fully kept, i.e. withdrawal dates, source of dose etc. Also, have a disinfectant bucket at farm entrance, small thing, but I've been checked on it.

    Hey everyone,

I'm about to send away my initial BLQAS application form.... an audit follows that I presume? Any idea of the amount of notice time they afford you between sending form away and arriving at your doorstep? Cheers

Thanks. You know a month in advance of their arrival then?

Can't remember exactly I think they acknowledge your form in that time.

Mine was a lot quicker than that this summer, I think the inspection was about 10 days after the application. Remedies section in the blue book, withdrawal dates very important. I suppose it all depends on how much work the bord bia guys have on. Blue dockets from knackery also important.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

had my inspection inside the week

Had my inspection during the summer. Got the information off Bord Bia on a Tuesday, got a phonecall from an inspector on Wednesday and was inspected Thursday afternoon. That was a long Wednesday night writing up books and Thursday morning sorting out yard. Were more interested in the safety side of things than the quality issues in my opinion

Also proper rat/mice bait points especially if you store bulk meal.

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. Are there regulations on keeping pheasants for hunting purposes where cattle are also kept? Not in same yard or anything. Would they not pass an inspection?
