Painting Oak Doors

    Hi all,

I managed to get oak doors at a reasonable price for a new build but my other half still want white doors upstairs in the house.

Therefore I need to paint them. I was going to just undercoat them with two finished coats on all. However do I need to prime first?? If so is there a difference between prime for hardwood and softwood?

    Thanks in advance.

You definitely need to prime the doors first. And thats because Oak is a hardwood. Softwoods usually just need to have any knots sealed. But hardwoods need to be completely primed.
