    Hi,

Where's the best value place to buy a car battery or are all places much of a muchness? Google tells me to go to Advance on Headford Road.

The garage opposite the fire station suits me better. I got tyres there last year,

Calbro on the headford road beside laura ashley, is the cheapest in town when i was looking. you will have to fit it yourself but if you're anyway handy is a fairly simple undertaking.

The last one I got was a Bosch in Halfords. I went with the one with the 3 year gaurantee at the time. However, there shouldn't be massive differences between the various places.

I think that the place opposite the fire station is under new ownership.

I could only recommend you dont go near Advance, ever. If you asked for a new battery, they would probably selotape a bunch of double A's together and put them in the glovebox.

They are truly awful 100% of the time ive ever dealt with them, for various reasons.

And to answer your question, Halfords will sort you out, and arnt too badly priced either.

I'd suggest a local motor factor like Calbro or that place in the Tesco centre, on the corner by Supermacs. Think it was 70 there last I got a battery a few years ago. There's another in Lisboan. Don't use franchises if you don't have to.
Advance is good if you know what you want and don't let them sell you anything extra. I've used the Ballybane branch sometime for stuff I can't be arsed with myself. Once I got them to shut up about tyres and other stuff they are sound.
Even then, local indys are better.

Note that if anyone sell you a battery they can/will take your old one back and recycle it free.

Not Quick Fit in Ballybane because they are no longer in business and it's being used for other things (thank you very much 4-5 people who came in asking about getting alignment done while i was trying to work) :p

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

You should try Western Motors, I know dealers are generally pricey, but Ive found them really cheap for decent batteries, a good 20-30 euro cheaper than Halfords
