    Folks,

Does anyone know the name/make of the computers which you commonly see the pros using, i.e. the 'square' ones which jut out from the stem?

They appear very tidy, just wondering are they affordable / practical ...

    cheers

All in, new, with a chainset (Dura Ace) ... not much change from €4,000.

    They're SRM head units.

Just to make you aware pro's do not get to choose what equipment they use.
They simply use what the team provides and effectively act as mobile advertising.

?! ... Are the sensors integrated into the frame / chainset or something along those linest?

Can you share a link? I've googled a fair bit but cannot find anything.

    cheers.

Check Vlad's link. €650 for the head unit alone.

On the subject of power meters, my former boss has started a new company, producing what looks like a very clever power meter, see: http://www.brimbrothers.com/ -- no ideas of the price but should be cheaper than the crank or hub integrated solutions, and nice to see an Irish company innovating with a product like this.

Yep, Garmin use Garmins (strangely enough). Dan Martin uses an Edge 510 Ride data from Volta Catalunya

Yes, but at historical rates of progress its likely that the universe will be approaching heat death before it's actually on the market.

I dunno about that, but if there are any electronics engineers on here looking for work, they are actively recruiting at the moment. Cool area to work in.

    Hi all

At the moment I have a Union bike computer, basic basic basic. I am just looking to upgrade, try and use it as a motivation for working harder on the saddle.

Any suggestion of a good value Bike Computer, something with Candence, Heart Rate, Mapping etc?

Came across this article on it, http://cyclinginfo.co.uk/products/computers/best-value-cycling-computers/ but looking for Boards experiences :)

First place to look is DC Rainmaker's reviews. Very comprehensive and he compares similar models.
Me, I just got the Polar RCX3, and very nice compact little watch that does all those things, and with good battery life (because the GSM sensor is external).
