just changed the rear wheel bearing in my landcruiser and noticed the gear oil was milky grey and there were some fine shavings through it. looks like my diff could be wearing itself out! is it possible to get a diff repair kit or would an entire back axle be the best? where would i get a repair kit?

If it's a bearing in the diff they are usually a specialist job to set up the backlash etc. Replacement could be the easier option. The lads over on www.lcoc.ie should be able to advise.

When did you last change the diff oil?
I'd recommend doing it at least annually or at 20k intervals.
The front one holds very little oil compared to the back.
At least Toyota have put a cooling duct in the front undertray now to help cool it.
