Bought a 26'' Full HD LED in Harvey Norman today for 198 down from 269-299. I saw a Toshiba 32 for 279 so they might have a 32 at a good reduction. Looks a good 26 saorview set Finlux brand

Yes i would prefer 100hz myself.

As the average human eye cannot notice that a light flickering more than 12 hz isn't static I wouldn't worry. Great deal well spotted OP ;-)

bought this tv last week, its a smart tv as wel,l really nice telly, only down side i would say is you need to buy a specific panasonic dongle for it it for the internet unless you can wire it into your router...

    Why?

Definately a slightly smoother picture on a 100hz, beyone that the difference is less noticable, but the higher the better usually.

I have yet to see a toshiba worth spending money on.majority of their panels are cheap as hell. As for finlux their an economy based brand for economy prices

Would agree with LEDs however it boils down to customers willingness to spend.a 100hz 32" would set u back how much on average?

Thanks for your reply, clueless about the specs etc. We rarely watch tv, it's really for Xbox playing, this should do the trick.

Bought the same one myself a few weeks back. Could pick faults with it, but for the money it's an excellent.
The media player through the USB has played everything I've thrown at it so far, and that was a big plus for me!

Closer to €330 with Irish VAT if you choose to pay in GBP (€339 if you settle in €).

The 4 x HDMI on the Panny would swing it for me.

I'm interested in this Panasonic TV but this 50hz has me stumped. The TV would primerely be used for gaming with the Nintendo Wii and play station. As this Hz (refresh rate) is very low would there be a noticable difference in viewing games on this TV.
If anyone out there could give me there views on this refresh rate I would appreciate it.

Majority of LEDs tend to be 50hz.100hz adds to a smoother image.only thing is it fine for really high motion images when your watching regular content it appears unatural all most too smooth.the main objection to 100hz panel refresh would be price I would say prices for a 32" 100hz would start well up on 550 if not more.

If its gaming you're interested in, it's the input lag you'll he worried about more than the refresh rate.
On some sets there can be a noticeable time delay between when you move the joypad and when the character onscreen moves. They normally incorporate a "game" mode on the set to reduce this.
I don't think manufacturers quote this lag in their tech specs, so your best bet is to try find a review that mentions it (I'd have a look for ya only I'm on the phone!). Either that or bring your console into the shop for a test.

Most games (afaik) run at 50/60Hz, so that's not really an issue.

Try watch a TV running at 12hz/fps you'll definitely notice, you won't be able to tell whats going on in football for a start. I'm a big fan of higher frame rates as a PC gamer. Anything below 25hz is uncomfortable to watch, There is an appreciable difference between 25 to 60hz, and from 60 to 120hz (I have a 3d monitor) is less noticeable, but it is definitely easier on the eyes for longer sessions.

The 100hz is a very confusing topic, effectively what it means to most people is smoother video (aka the home video/80s soap opera effect) which is achieved by doing some interpolation on the 50hz source so it spits out 100hz. The interesting thing is that most video sources are actually 24/25/30hz , so some 50hz panels have the leg room to perform the interpolation, Not sure if this model can though.

On topic, heres a glowing review of the set at least

Has anyone picked up one of these yet. Looks like a nice set, and Panasonic are a solid brand. According to Panasonic it's 100hz. Any personal reviews?

I picked up one of these earlier today in Currys, it's replacing a 10 year old 28" Quintrix CRT so I can enjoy GOT in all that HDTV goodness ;).

First impressions are favourable, easy to set up and looks very smart. Remote is quality as always with Panasonic.

Some reflection off the screen during daytime but fine after the sun goes down. Viewing angles are very good, much better than a Samsung 26" LCD in the kitchen.

I'm using a RF analogue feed with a Sky Magic Eye to access my Sky box in another room, the SD picture is very good but not up to HD standards obviously. I've yet to set up a Saorview aerial feed for this TV.

The media player works well, picks up my DNLA server on my home PC straight away (wired connection) and HDTV content looks really good.

A few niggles - sound is rather tinny, hardly any bass, but I have connected it up to a Denon amp with 2 good speakers and that makes a big difference. However, the volume control for the headphone output is a bit fiddly to access.

I downloaded the Viera remote app for my Android smartphone as that would be very handy for text input, etc., unfortunately the app won't detect the TV even though they are on the same network. Hopefully, I'll be able to get this sorted out or else wait and see if the app gets de-bugged.

All-in-all, a very nice TV for the price. Once I get the external volume control sorted and remote app working, then I will be a very happy camper.

Is there any gurantee with this TV?

    Yes it does
Regarding the tv I helped set it up and as a previous poster said its very easy to set up.its a small thing but the quality of the remote really helps when navigating around the menus.quality wise it's very good for the price.i know some posters have put up links for the toshibas at cheaper prices but when it comes to quality and the fact that your not paying an over the top premium for what I would regard as a premium brand is very good

That warranty offer only ran until 31st March and Currys don't appear to participating (they tried selling me a 3 year warranty for €40).

1-year warranty comes as standard, that will have to do me as most faults should occur shortly after purchase with most modern TV's.

I'm Glad you didn't give them the extra cash. Under the "sale of goods and supply of services act 1980" irish consumers are given strong protection. This act states that any goods sold must be of merchantable quality... ie. as discribed, fit for purpose, and as durable as is reasonable to expect. This is a very important stipulation, as you as a consumer, have up to six years in which to lodge a claim if there is a problem with your purchase (providing you haven't caused the problem, missused or abused the item, accidentally or otherwise) and it is reasonable to expect it to last that long. When a retailer sells you something, they enter into a contract with you, that obliges them to honour these stipulations.

Any way, unless it's a dud, you shouldn't have any problems with it.
