As a member of a gun club in between two towns i can see why certain gun clubs deny allowing people who dont live in the clubs grounds or have an family member already in the club. The gun club i am in has approx 10/12 members which is very small but the number of applications from people living in towns is starting to rise. The problem with this is the farmers who have granted permission and allow the likes of us hunting their grounds don't want people they don't know hunting their fields as they might not know the land and where and where not to hunt. Recently i have had heated encounters with people who arent in our gun club but are hunting our land and who have hunted land that has been preserved, this makes our gun club and hunting in general look bad. It gives d interpretation that people who hunt dont care who owns the land and their rights.

    Sorry about the rant :D

Having been involved in and out of gun clubs for more years than I care to remember and been a committee member of same , I see the siege mentality of some clubs driving them into the ground whether it be the matter of new members or game release programmes or vermin control . The elitist attitude of "we can cope with 20 members " and to hell with anyone new who wishes to join will naturally lead to people taking the initiave and approaching landowners to gain permission to walk / shoot over their land . Also the illusion of hard earned game shooting rights is just that in a lot of the country ,as no one in a lot of areas can say for definite who owns the aforementioned rights . Safe (legal! ) shooting

Hi, are you living in Carrigaline? I'll PM you a contact number. If you contact the NARGC they can put you in contact with any clubs anyway.

If you can't get in with them try the one further afield in 5mile area.. Far better land to shoot over.

Old thread I know but has anyone had any luck joining this club?

I'm also looking to join but have been told that the club is full, is there a limit to how many members a gun club can have?
