Coffee pods in airport hand luggage

I know this is an odd one, but just wondering if anyone has taken coffee pods like nespresso in hand luggage or is there an issue with security .

I've posted here as its not really an aviation question & have had no luck in travel....

Basically I'm flying from stansted to cork on Friday and want to bring back some pods for my starbucks machine which I can't readily get in ireland. Sudden thought though that security may have an issue and just wondered if anyone had ever tried it.

I've moved this into Coffee & Tea. Someone in here is bound to know.

I used to bring coffee beans in my hand luggage a few years ago and never had a problem with customs. I dont see why it would be a problem.

Actually now that I think about it I remember one day I was cleaning one of my bags and saw a bunch of nespresso pods in it, I had brought them from Spain (for my wifes father) a few months back, during that period I use that bag to travel to Spain and back to Ireland several times and nobody ever said anything to me about the pods.

Thanks, that's what I'm hoping - I guess I'm just concerned how they will feel about boxes of sealed pods showing up on the X-ray as I've often seen them open anything 'unusual'

At worst they'd open the bag and go "oh it's coffee pods"

If you're that concerned, bring them in hand luggage instead.

I have family that regularly fly from Holland to Spain, U.K and Eire and coffee pods are the number 1 request every time.

Not ONCE has there been an issue. Not even a question. The security guys will know instantly what it is and you'll be fine.

Well lesson learnt (: - fortunately I only took 24 pods with me, but stopped at security and 12 pods opened to inspect the contents

I just realized you were gonna go through Stansted... they could be politely described as very "strict", everytime I fly from Stansted I have some sort of issue with them.

Of all the airports I have been they are by far the most annoying to travel from, but this is just my opinion

I've an elderly relative who had to explain to them why she brought 18 cans of pilchards through with her!

Unfortunately, she's not quite with it (dementia) and they really turned a perfectly innocent situation into a total mess as she couldn't remember where she what her home address was, or why she'd packed the pilchards or anything when she was put under pressure. Then sat on the floor of the security area crying.

(She wasn't travelling alone but they took her aside on her own)

They really need to employ a bit of tact sometimes.
