Ryan Tubridy was the highest paid presenter in RTE for 2011 with total earnings of €723,000, up 12% on 2010.

RTÉ has released figures for its top ten earners for 2010 and 2011 and for the first time, the broadcaster has also revealed details of its latest contract agreements.

The second highest paid broadcaster in 2011 was Pat Kenny on €630,000. His latest contract is up for renewal this year.

Marian Finucane was paid €492,000 in 2011 and her fees have been reduced to €295,000 in her new deal.

Joe Duffy was paid €378,000 in 2011, reduced to €300,000 in his latest contract.
RTÉ says it has reached its objective of cutting presenter pay by at least 30% since 2008. It also says it has agreed increased levels of annual broadcast output with a range of presenters.

Miriam O'Callaghan received €307,000 in 2011, dropping to €211,000 in her latest contract.

Brendan O'Connor was paid €228,500 in 2011, reduced to €158,000 in his latest agreement.

Derek Mooney was the seventh-highest paid in 2011 on €220,000.

Broadcaster Sean O'Rourke was paid nearly €209,000 in 2011.

George Hamilton received nearly €203,000 that year, dropping to €168,000 in his new contract.

Bryan Dobson was paid just under €198,000 in 2011.

Derek Mooney, Sean O'Rourke and Bryan Dobson are employees rather than contractors so new contract fees are not applicable to them. Their figures also include pension contributions.

I'm quite angry on how they can pay these people this money while rte goes on and on about how "poor" they are.

I always find it amusing when people on the crustline (I'd love to be on the breadline) talk to Joe and he stretches his power of recall to empathise with them. Get the same feeling when union chiefs on way oodles of dosh fight for the struggling public worker.
Lots of these people give out about politicians who themselves are struggling:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: to get by on 5x the industrial wage when they are on 10x plus:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Mary Wilson didnt mention how much she was on.

George Hamilton gets 200k and gets to get some of the best seats in the house for all the major sporting occasions which take place, I'm a bit depressed now.

Otherwise, I'm fairly ok with the salaries, it seems to reflect the top viewed/listened to programs which in turn are the highest revenue earners for advertising.

None of 'em are any good. There contracts should be let run out and offer them 30% of what there currently on. They'd struggle to get a job in any other station let alone 30% of what they're on.

Bleedin semi-state bodies. No wonder the country's f*cked.

Are the BBC paying this kind of money these days? Would think Turbidy might get a job on more permanent basis there, but wouldn't think they would pay anywhere near what he is on now.

Some of the fees are still way too high for the quality of the product we are getting.
When contracts expire wouldn't you love to see their programme slots put out to auction so that others capable of doing the same could displace the incumbents who seem to think that they own their slots - even for those times when they actually present their own programmes!

You can be sure none of this will be mentioned on liveline, joe has his "man of the people" myth to maintain.

Really don't see howthose big salaries are justified. Market rate? Can't see tv3 or todayfm matching any of those salaries.

Contracts that are holdovers from an era long past. They will continue to decrease over the next few years. They will still be too high, but at least not as obscene as they were.

Are the presenters really earning more than station management?

Even the DG only makes about €250,000.
