So the candidates were announced yesterday, with hustings taking place right now.

President: Colin Brennan and Aaron Clogher

Education: Ciarán O'Connor and Robbie Reid

Welfare: Laura Rice and Lorna Finnegan

    Business Convenor: Alan Prendergast

Engineering & Computing Convenor: Aran Smith and Ian Kavanagh

Humanities & Social Sciences Convenor: Fionnuala Moran and Mark Young

Science & Health Convenor: Erin O'Reilly and Conor Palin-Stewart

    Clubs Officer: Kenneth Browne

    Societies Officer: Eve Kerton

I know who I'm voting for already. Not the greatest mix of candidates though it must be said.

Very interested to seeing how the Welfare race goes.

Tbh I have found the SU really lack over the past 3 years. I remember when I first came to DCU when Alan Keegan was the SU president there seemed to be always a theme ever week and it was clearly advertised to the student body. Now you barely get any notification unless its Freshers, Halloween, Xmas, RAG(which seemed very quiet this year) or Summer.

Sabbat officers re-running for election seems to be a big trend in the last 5 years. I generally think it is a bad thing.

Conor Palin couldn't organise hoodies for his CES class last year, can't see how he'll manage being the Science Convenor. Erin is getting my vote.

RAG is always quiet in most Dublin colleges. Was the same in TCD when I was there. A lot of the fun in DCU has been lost with Toxic Tuesday ending. Always a handy night to have to go to.

Ordering hoodies is a surprisingly small part of the job.

Of being a class rep? Are you serious! Got to the odd meeting, organise the odd night out, maybe hoodies. That's about it.

I think you'll find that it wasn't his fault the hoodies never came. They were only gonna be hoodies for only being part of CES for one year so its not that big of a deal..........

He deserved to win the position in my opinion. He has always been heavily involved with the SU .

Bit disappointing that no investigative journalist has uncovered that people vote multiple times in these elections.

I don't know how this is possible, each person who mans the polling station updates the register of which students voted (which is why you're asked for your student card). If a student tries to vote twice it will say that they've already voted.

Why respond to him? When asked why he thinks this is so he doesn't respond, you would be much better off ignoring him until he brings something more substantial to the table.

Aaron Clogher, Ciaran O'Conner and Lorna Finnegan all got elected as Sabbats, for the record.

I wasn't asked for my student card.. I was asked for my student number and that was it!

same difference really, you couldn't have voted again if you tried as your student number is on the system.

If you know somebody else's student number, who you know won't be voting, I'm sure it's an easy task to just give their number and say you're them.

your picture taken at Registration appears on the screen upon entry of the student number.

    Not really an easy task.

It's an easy task, when you know that people have done it! ;)

As someone who actually sat on the polling stations, we get both your full name and registry picture when your student number is put in. And we make damn well sure that no one votes twice (although you do get the odd messer who tries..)
