    1) Turn on your bloody lights when driving in a blizzard. Snow covered cars coming towards you with 100 metres visibility are hard to see!! And no, parking lights do not count nor do the stupid LED lights on your new Hyundai/Kia which you think look cool but will age faster than Kelly McGillis.

    2) It might improve your ability to drive if you bothered to wipe the snow off your side and rear windows.

Its a fine here if you don't clear it off the roof also.

You might think thats nuts, but if there's thousands of cars driving on the motorway with 4 inches of snow on the roof it ends up a blizzard even if its not snowing.

But its moron behavior to not clear snow off the car before you set off.

Similarly with frost, i've seen people staring out through a tiny hole in the windscreen and just blasting the heat on with the window wipers hoping it clears soon.

Another thing for the idiots out there to take note of - It's a little pointless turning on your headlights when you've left an inch of snow all over them.

    Melts the snow?

Snow on roof + touch the brakes = now your vision is blocked by huge clumps of snow that have (as if by magic) appeared on your windscreen. Even for a second or two before you wipe it (and if it's thick snow, this mightn't clear it) you've potentially travelled a good distance without having a clue what's in front of you. Madness.

I've been thinking about filming a skit on the RSA ads, with real issues like the OP mentions, but highlighting the ridiculous things people do instead of showing what the ideal driver should do.

Yeah sure that new one is far fetched...I've yet to see a cyclist smile at a motorist!

Stop leaving the fogs lights on when there is a good 500m of visibility and a line of cars filling that 500m.

get used to looking at them, they are standard fit on all new cars sold, look up "daytime running lights" :)

Whats wrong with ye all, sure isnt their catch all slogan "Expect the Unexpected"? That covers nothing to everything.

For the lad making the skit video , you should include roving gangs of morlocks and bloodthirsty pteradactyls swooping in from above in line with their "unexpected" advice.

Or is RTA someone else?? if so, shut my mouth.
