    Hi,
hoping for some help. My car failed the NCT on the exhaust emission. It reads as follows: low idle CO 0.59% above 0.30%.
    High idle CO 0.50 VOL% above 0.20%
I do not know what any of this means so I was hoping for advice on this.
Do I need to bring it for a diagnostic test and has anyone any idea on pricing?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi lolly96

You will need to post more details. make, model, year, engine size, mileage and all gas readings if possible and you will be in a better position to get some help.

You will probably need to get it somewhere that has a gas analyser, diagnostics and the know how to interpet what is going on.

High co means too much fuel in exhaust fumes. Have you had repairs done since last nct?

yes this was a re test so I brought it mechanic brake pads and he did something with the throttle which obviously didnt work. he did reduce the emissions but not enough. And he fixed the bushes on the steering.

I was giong to suggest to clean and reset the throttle body but looks like your mechanic already did that. If he has a gas tester he should have known the emissions were still not correct. If he dosent he is working in the dark and guessing.

If you give your location Im sure someone can make a recommendation of a good garage to sort out the problem.

I agree with dieselbug, you need someone who can fine tune it properly. Maybe a local exhaust centre with an emissions machine that can tune and test until it's right.

dipetane is an option also, and give it a good hard driving to the test centre.
