    Hi,

Does anyone have experience of the legality of Spanish weddings, what is required etc.

I have had a good look around but cannot find any clear cut answers.
The priest has said he will waive the two year legality rule but to be honest I'm not even sure what the significance of this is

    Thanks
    Redved

As far as I know you can't have a civil ceremony in Spain without being resident for a while first.

However if you're both Catholics you can have a church wedding (which gets registered in the few days afterwards with the local Spanish town hall), and is then legally recognized in Ireland too.

*edit* this link might help. It mentions UK but rules are similar for Irish I think.
