CI Licence

It's March 26th. My CI Licence expires in 280 days. When will I get it, I wonder? 85 days is a long time to fulfil and order. If this were anything else, would people be so patient? It's not as if it is free, and many of the charities require that you have one if you are going to participate in the cycle. Seems a bit of a racket. What good is it?

Have you been able to ask CI directly?

I paid in late January. I did contact them. They asked me to be patient as it was their busy time of year. That was in late February. My understanding was that they were sending directly to addresses. Is that not the case? Or are they sending to the clubs still?

Can you not use your license number from the website in lieu of your card while your waiting, I always thought they did for the first few months as delays can happen.

    Could be wrong though.

You're right. I did it for Ned Flanagan and there were a good few others who did too. I was tardy in applying BTW, nothing to do with CI.

Is there a special number to get through to CI other than the one on the website?
Been trying to get in touch since Monday (and sent an email) but it goes through to voicemail and there's no point leaving a message to return the call as I'm rarely sat at my desk so would end up playing phone tag.

You must be the only person without a mobile ;-)

April 21st. No cycleireland licence still. pretty disgusted.

Does anyone know what information would be sufficient to satisfy an event organiser who requires that participants have a CI license? Is the number enough? I recall someone on a previous, quasi-related post saying that you needed a copy of something.

If you log onto the CI website you will have your license number, if you bring a print out of this (I only actually ever had to remember the number) it should suffice.

Remember you have the license you just don't have the card, you are still covered by CI. If the card is urgent, try ringing the office and they might be able to print it out on the day, if time permits, I have had it done before, but if its a sportif or leisure event a print out or your number should suffice (maybe mail the organiser to confirm if concerned).

If you have to pay more for an entry get a receipt I am sure CI will reimburse you.

I'm in the same position, but following some phone call's & a few emails have managed to clarify situation. I selected a club competition licence for a South East Galway Club and paid for Club membership which included CI approval ( included insurance etc) at my first event. My licence has since been approved by club and ratified by CI (payment by card deducted from account at this stage) & licence number issued to me via CyclingIreland. I can now enter any event covered by my licence. Just as yourself waiting for licence to come through the post. But just make sure you bring a copy of your licence & ratification by CI to any event you wish to enter.

    Regards, Beagh.
