I know it's not the exact same as moving in before the course actually starts but my neighbours who came after Christmas this year (in a Fás Course) all got together to get a house a few days into the course. You could find someone with similar living needs at the actual course?

WIT accomodation should have a list or they could probably/possibly rent you a room on campus? Try Linda 051 - 302615 in the accomodation office.

Is that riverwalk? and if so is that far from the industral park where fas is? sorry i dont no waterford at all.

No, not riverwalk. They have 2 places - college fields or manor village. If the fas centre is in Westgate Retail Park on the Tramore Road, then it's a 3 minute walk from manor village and 20 min walk from college fields (according to google maps!).

I think the college fields one is closer so, it's probably still a 20 minute walk but in opposite direction. I'm not from the area either, just went to college there for a bit

I was on Daft the other day and there was a few properties near the industrial estate specifically aimed at Fás people:

Although Templar's Hall has a bit of a reputation for trouble between the students and the residents, so might be wise to give it a wide berth.

Well the actual accommodation is fine I'd imagine. I've only ever passed by it, but it's gated so only people living there can get in. There's a big shopping centre across the road and loads of off licence, bookies, shops, a pub, takeaways a stones throw away. The Fás centre is about a 10 minute walk.

The area is OK, can be a bit dodgy sometimes if I'm honest, but generally it's fine. I suppose if I had to I'd call it working class  but I'm sure there'll be someone along soon to call be a snob if I did that :p

The area was traditionally a mix of families and students although there's not so many students there any more as there was a lot of proper student accommodation built over the last few years.

im in brownes road and i wouldnt invite my worst enemy here it's damp and cold and templers houses are like heaven compared to it (ive stayed in both)

sorry that was a bit blunt, bad mood due to heating costing more than I can afford, the place sounds nice in the description but it's very loud, if someone is having a party you will hear it whether it's next door or 5 doors down, its costing me an arm and a leg to try heat the place, and once the heaters go off its icy cold again, the internet barely works if it connects at all, waterford lettings make the place sound lovely and on your first visit it seems nice enough but once this lease is up never again

I am hoping to start a 6 month course myself in September.

I would only be looking for accomadation for 3 days per week.

    What are my best options?

Financially you're probably just as well off to rent a place as a regular student, I know you won't be there 4 days a week, but the only other option I could think of would be a B&B or something. Maybe you could negotiate with the owner saying you're only going top be staying 3 nights a week for 6 months, but I reckon that option would still be more expensive then paying the €70 odd for a student place.
