They recently got going on Facebook, so I guess it's one step at a time for them. A twitter feed would be handy for us pax. I recently received notification of flight delays with another airline due to weather on twitter a good 15-20 mins before it was announced at the gate.

And in other news, Aer Lingus CEO Christoph Mueller has been appointed Chairman of An Post.

    TripIt is great for that.

It's very handy getting off a plane when you're connecting and getting a push notification to your phone saying something like "Your connection XX 123 is currently on time departing from terminal 1, gate C10 at 17:15. You have 1h 37m to make your connection.".

Have Aer Lingus got that many machines considering that they can lease out 4 just before the busy season?

Any idea on the logic behind this?

And will they be sharklet equipped?

    EDIT: From another forum
GECAS will lease two ex Eurofly/Meridiana Fly aircraft (EI-EZV & EI-EZW) to Aer Lingus both operating for Virgin Atlantic Little Red.

EI-EZV has already been delivered and EI-EZW should be delivered from Singapore on Sunday, heading to Aberdeen on Monday.

Weren't 2 of the Little Reds leased from GECAS, no?

Edit: Sorry, yeah they already took delivery of the first one, landed on the 3rd like b757 said above.

Problem is in deciding whether or not the aircraft in question are indeed the Virgin ones (most likely), or new ones (Please please please sharklets) that'll be used for mainline Aer Lingus.

The fleet is pretty stretched this summer, assuming they are for mainline, perhaps being brought in to add some flexibility, allow other aircraft to go and be fitted with Wi-Fi which is supposed to be coming online by the end of the year (excuse the pun), or add some frequency. Any guesses?

I'm gonna guess that this refers to the 2 'Little Red' aircraft. EI have no deliveries due. No sharklet equipped aicrraft have been spotted in TLS or XFW.

"....GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) announced it will lease two Airbus A320 aircraft to new customer Aer Lingus, delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for this month."

EI-EZW arrived in Dublin on delivery to Aer Lingus for Virgin Atlantic Little Red operations. EI-EZW flew XSP-MLE-AUH-SOF-DUB on its delivery flight today.

It will start Virgin Atlantic Little Red on Monday the 15th of April. VS are increasing the EDI-LHR route to six daily flights on Monday. It currently operates just three daily.

EI-EZV began operating for Virgin Atlantic Little Red on Tuesday. It's first flight was VS3026, which was the first ABZ-LHR service.
