Is a laser printer better for occasional use?

Finally getting round to replacing my inkjet after it died and am looking at a laser one instead.

With the inkjet I found the cartridges drying up if not used frequently.

I would be using it for printing text so a black and whit laser is what I'm leaning towards.

Would it be better in the long run to get a basic laser printer or stick to inkjet?

The price of lasers has come down a lot .
