I took my 12 yr old for his dental check up with the clinic and they did an x-ray and found one of this teeth has not come down and is in fact impacted. They are giving me an appointment for the orthodontist but tell me it will be at least 9 months (if not a year) before I get to actually see the orthodontist and even if he is a candidate for free treatment it will be a waiting list of 3/4 years  Anyone any experience of impacted teeth?? I asked was it an emergency and was presented with a list of potential problems such as over-crowding, the tooth damaging the roots of the other teeth, the roots dying off before tooth can come through etc so its not sounding good - was recommended I should pay for a private dentist but money is tight right now but not sure if I can afford to wait 9 months to even get another opinion  Any ideas?
