Melbourne - Things to do

I'm heading over to Oz for a month in May and I'm going to be in Melbourne for a day by myself before heading on to Sydney to catch up with some people.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to do with the full day while I'm there to make the most of it!

I plan on doing the eureka skydeck in the evening to see the city lit up at night but other than that I just plan on wandering around - what would be the best places to try see?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi beamer. There's loads to do in Melbourne for the day. The zoo isn't too far away on the train if you fancy that. The Eureka skydeck is pretty cool and the tour of old Melbourne gaol is good too. Its the gaol where Ned Kelly was locked up and executed. You could also take a trip out to the beach around St. Kilda and there is a small amusement park there on the seafront. The crown casino is close enough to the Eureka tower and is good to have a wander around and the aquarium is just across the bridge too. Enjoy it dude. You'll have plenty to keep you occupied for the day.

    Depends on what you're into:
    Eureka Skydeck
    Guided bike tour
    South bank-people watch , Casino
    Ferry cruise on the Yarra
    Melbourne Museum
    Melbourne Zoo
    Walking Tour of CBD
    Old Melbourne Gaol
    National Galleries of Victoria
    Royal Botanic Gardens
academy of Cinema & Moving Image
    Aquarium
    MCG tour
    Queen Victoria Market
    Royal Exhibition Centre
    Tour of the Arts Centre

I would do the bike tour,Queen Vic market, Melbourne Museum, Skydeck
