Hi guys have fairly big lawn takes 2 hours to cut on ride on when collecting grass can knock bout 40 min off that if I just let it out shoot handy option just wondering is it bad for lawn long term the cut grass lying on it even when cut once a week grass seems heavy enough .

The latest thinking is to leave the cuttings on the lawn. It rots down and returns nitrogen and humus to the lawn. So save yourself some bother and do the lawn some good :)

AFAIK a lot of ride on mowers can use mulching kits, which would mean the cut grass will be quicker to rot or otherwise disappear on the lawn.

and yes, leaving grass on a lawn is better for its health; taking the cuttings away is essentially removing fertility from your lawn.

agree with above posts and it helps a lot to cut when dry and not let grass get too long betweeen cuts.
