Reverse sensors on 10 Audi A4

When I was in this car today and reversing, the sensors were alarming constantly eventhough there was nothing behind the car. The sensors aren't working properly.

Any suggestions or is it a garage job?

It's a pretty straightforward job for a garage to determine which sensor is at fault so a visit to a good independent garage is probably the best option.

It is possible that one or more sensors might need a good cleaning too, I've heard that the build up of dirt can cause the PDC system to go bananas.

If you go to a garage with the proper diagnostic gear they should be able to access the distance readings from each sensor in real time. It will be very easy to then identify the problem sensor from the readings and see what the options are regarding repair or replacement.

On my audi, if they are very dirty, they will think there is something behind you so that is the first thing to check.

The sensors look clean but there is black dirt inside the rings of sensor on bumper. Would that be the problem?

Nah, if the front face is nice and clean, Id say its not a dirt problem.

Try removing the dirt around the rings gentley with a tooth pick. Polish or wax can get lodged in there too.

Tried everything but still have problems. I notice a small tiny crack on one of the sensors, so il bring it into garage to check it out.
