    Hi,

A friend and I are hoping to cycle from Killarney to cork via the beara peninsula and ken are, over two days next week.

Can anyone help with route advise. We like climbing and are happy with long days. Also any ideas on where to overnight at the halfway stage.

We are both experienced tourists and will be travelling very light.

    Thanks

Two days really ? That's going to be tough going but fair play. A fair share of hills on the route.

Route that would interest me is.
Killarney out Muckross road up molls gap to Kenmare ,over the bridge in kenmare and turnoff for Castletownbere. I'd head all the way to lauragh then you have option
A up over Healy pass which isn't actually that hard and head straight for glengariff, problem with this I think you miss the most beautiful parts of Beara.

B forget the lovely Healy pass and head through Ardgroom to eyeries to allihies via reentrisk (cods head) which will test your climbing, stop in oneils in allihies for grub and back in Castletownbere , head for bantry through glengariff . I'd overnight in bantry before heading for cork the next day or you could overnight in glengariff and forget about bantry and go up through Copeen. Option B is the one I'd do , eyeries to allihies is tough but worthwhile.

Denbat would be the best person as he isa local :)

    You like climbing

    Day 1: Killarney - Dunloe - Black Valley - Kenmare - Laragh - Allihies - Castletownbere - Adrigole - Healy Pass - Laragh - Kenmare.

Day 2: Kenmare - Caha Pass - Glengariff - Kealkill - Pass of Keiminagh - Ballingeary - Mouth of the Glen - Renanaree - Ballymakerey - Macroom - Cork.

Two stunning cycles with long days of up and down. Plenty of long shallow and short steep climbs.
    Enjoy.

    Thanks lads.

We will now be going from cork to Killarney. Still looking for the best place to overnight, town and hotel/b+b ideas.

Rock on, love the climbing but don't fancy the looping back to kenmare. Ideas about a one route required.

    Thanks again!

Could do my route other way around but it will be two days of suferfest :D IMO the most stunning cycling is out around allihies that's why I have left out Healy or caha pass, had planned to cycle ring of Beara this weekend but my MRI says otherwise.

Hi Maybe we meet on the way :D I'm going to cycle from cork to Beara make a little round trip on the Penisula and hopefully go over Healy Pass.
I'm planing to do a 5 day bike hike and camping trip. But I think 2 days will be enough to cover the Route but not enough to enjoy the area and landscape

    How did you get on

I loved it, it was extremely exhausting, harder than I expected, as I'm not really fit at the moment. I did 300km and 5000m elevation wihin 5 days.
Weather was more or less ok, always cold but not very much rain. Camping was not the ideal choice, so every second night I checked into a B&B.
Stunning Landscapes, beautiful views, will definetly go back
