    Hi all.

Need a bit of advice. Just saw this mondeo for sale and would like to get people's advice on it. It's had 3 previous owners so that's a bit if a concern.

    http://m.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201302211847740

Called the chap and he said injectors and clutch / flywheel ok but is there anything I can do to check this if I go see the car?

Price wise what do people think?

Honestly I've never bought a car private and if I end up going to see it ill bring a mechanic with me but is there anything else I need to consider??

Any and all comments very welcome

Mileage unusually low for a diesel of that vintage. I'd be checking, and verifying, a service history.

Yea I agree. But there is supposedly a service history with it so that might shed some light on it. Might go see the chap tomorrow evening about it.

Mmm, 7 year old Mondeo diesel with 3 previous owners and only 56k miles on the clock. Whatever about 1 or possibly 2 owners putting feck all mileage on it, what's the chances of having 3 owners who didn't drive it that much?

Make sure any service history is fully validated by ringing the garages that serviced it. Make sure the VIN/reg number on the car matches those on the logbook. Also run a history check to see if the mileage checks out and have a mechanic check the car over. There are enough threads on here about people who buy dodgy cars privately without doing any sort of checks on them first.

It could also be a case of the first owner doing all the mileage. 2nd owner bought it as a lemon and sold it on. 3rd owner doing the same.

    Could be a good car.

Agree re the mileage, first thing I spotted. You will have an inkling by the state of the upolostery, steering wheel and possibly the pedals.
IF it has a fully stamped FSH then you should be ok.

Would that 115bhp be a little under powered and possibly high on fuel cost for an car that size?

I had an 06 mondeo, great car but had a few problems. The handbrake cable is prone to sticking, mines ate rear brakes, the calipers kept sticking on them went through 2 sets in no time including discs. check if the fuel pump has ever been replaced as they are prone to going, mine went and took the fuel system and turbo with it. It could have been bad diesel but my mechanic said the pumps on the 04-07 versions were prone to failing, delphi the manufacturer blamed ford and ford blamed delphi. if it goes and takes the injectors etc with it you are talking about €2k to fix the thing. Check the service history and ask about the brakes, injectors etc.

if that is a genuine 56k you would want to make sure the DMF has been done or it might come back to bite you

The average mileage for that exact car in Ireland is 109,900 miles.
