I have seen some people mention getting tax back after being on maternity leave.

How do you go about this or do you get it in your first wages back?

You can email maternityben@welfare.ie and ask for an MB21.

Give them your name PPS, employers name, the childs PPS, name and DOB.

You can ring the Social Welfare on 1890 690 690 about it.

You need to submit the MB21 with your P60 to get the refund... so, if you are getting maternity benefit now, you need to pay for your next P60 (next january) before you can claim.

if you on leave now and heading back within this tax year, you'll get this year's portion refunded in your next payslip. any overpaid tax from prior to 01 Jan 2013 will require a P21 balancing statement.

pwurple and thesimpsons have given good advice but I'm also going to move this thread to Taxation with a redirect from Parenting where you may get more advice from the experts there.

With effect from 1 July 2013, Maternity Benefit will be
taxed in full. In line with all Dept of Social Protection
(DSP) payments, USC will not apply:
