    Hi all,
I bought a car in January and have so far received no logbook. i have rang the garage numerous times and have got various excuses the latest being it was sent to wrong address and that he had gone to the tax office that day and sorted it. that was two weeks ago today and i still not received it. the man in the garage that i dealt withs phone number is no longer working and the office line has been 'engaged' all day. this is worrying me big time and i dunno wat to do.
    Please help!! thank you

Thanks, I have just emailed Motor tax office in Shannon and they say the car isnt registered in my name. What does this mean now?

Did the garage actually get you to sign the new owner section of the old logbook or tell you they could change it online?

If they did neither then chances are they didn't get the old logbook from the previous owner or didn't bother chasing them up for it and hope you sort it out yourself. I'd be paying the garage a visit in person and be a thorn in their side until they get it sorted, too easy to be ignored or fobbed off via phone.

As I write this sitting in a W126 to say the log book for this car took over a year to get after purchase.

    Don't lose faith :)

as for popping into the garage, its a bit of a trek away and having dropped up for problem before they fob u off just as much in person...tell u the person dealt with isnt there and rest claim to know nothing about wat ur talking about and all numbers i have are disconnected

There was a "discrepancy" in the book and after seeing solicitors, main dealers and visits to and from the tax office, the book was sent out the following year, circa April. Haven't looked back since :)

In recent times I bought a car in December and didn't get the book untill February!

Spend the day going up and back across the M50 and after the owner getting all the bills they will soon find it and forward it on :D

Would this be a certain garage on the long mile road by any chance ???

Took five days for me. Car bought three weeks ago from a private seller. Not boasting, just letting folks know it's not all doom and gloom.

You need this signed by a solicitor/commissioner for oaths.

DoT won't charge for it. You may be charged for someone to sign the form like your solicitor.
