    "All Libraries Closed:
St Patrick's Day Holiday: Monday 18 March 2013

    Easter: Friday 29 March 2013 - Monday 1 April 2013

May Bank Holiday: Monday 6 May 2013"

Just saw this though: The 24 Hour Study Area on the first floor of the Ussher and the 1937 Postgraduate Reading Room will be available

There is a website for the library at Trinity College Dublin. You can find it if you click here: http://www.tcd.ie/Library/opening-hours/

See below the information about opening hours over Easter in relation to the 24hr study space.

The Library is closed Easter weekend - closing at 22:00 on Thursday 28th March and reopening on Tuesday 2nd April at 09:00. The 24 Hour Study Area on the first floor of the Ussher and the 1937 Postgraduate Reading Room will be available.

Balls. How do I get into the 24 hour space in the Ussher? I couldn't figure it out on Sunday. I'm not even sure which library is the Ussher tbh. :p

To get into the 24-room, swipe into the computer room. The door is outdoors, in the area between the Ussher (newest one, five floors overlooking Cricket pitch) and Berkeley.

Apropos of the Ussher 24 Hour Computer/Reading Room - how are we supposed to get in and out of it now? It has a new keypad thingy and the big ol' green release button has been replaced by a contact pad. My ID card won't open the door from either side it seems (to be honest, most of the time I've either pulled the door open without needing my card or followed someone in/out). What gives?

Is it like the one on the PG Reading Room? If so, you have to hold the barcode up to the reader.

Takes a bit of a repositioning of the card.

Is there a quick release button there in case of a fire? Thought it was a bit strange to have to swipe 'out' of the building.

Once fire alarm goes off all electronic doors become unlocked, same would have happened with push button

Isn't a barcode even less secure than a magnetic swipe card now? I mean, anyone with an ounce of savvy can theoretically have a copied barcode on a bit of paper for example.

I don't know why they can't just replace all the locks with RFID like the system they have in the BMSI. Far more secure and far more reliable.

RFID solutions can be expensive. Anyway, TPTB are after investing in the current technology in place now.
