Evening work and night shifts

If my contract says I an contracted to do evening work, is there an actual definition of this?

Is there set hours for an evening shift or does it cover nighttime work as well?

Basically my contract is for occasional evening work which is fine but they are now trying to get me to work night time (eg 10pm to 4am)

Is there an actual distinction and regards pay, should they pay extra? They aren't offering extra pay by the way

It sounds like your employer used the wrong term -- it should be "night" work.

I can't see any reference to extra pay.

Will have a read over later. After 1 year in the job they are expecting us to work nightime when it was never requested before

Evening shift to my employer means 4pm to 12am.Night shift would be anything after 12am,like 12am to 8am shift
