    Can someone please help me??!!

Been thinking all day of a gameshow that was on Saturday nights and on itv I think. Early 2000s or late 90s I think. For some reason I think vernon Kay was the host!

So the idea was that the contestant got given a heap of money and had to spend it all within a few hours. He/she then had a week to practice doing a challenge and then on Saturday night he/she would have to perform that challenge live against the clock and if he passed he got to keep the stuff he bought.

    Any ideas??!!

I know this one - Boys and Girls. It was on Channel 4. Produced by Chris Evans, presented by Vernon Kay.

It was a bit of a flop, but the spending spree was interesting.

Lots about it here on the always dependable UKGameshows website

Cheers but I don't think that's it?! It was a lot more simple than that if I can recall correctly

Dunno, I can't think of anything else Vernon Kay presented which would be what you were thinking of. A similar show from that time would be 'The Moment of Truth' with Cilla Black, where the contestants had a week to practice a challenge to win prizes. Maybe you are mixing up the two shows?

That might be it, I could be wrong with Vernon Kay!

I have to say, that format sounds a lot better than either of the shows which I mentioned!

It sounded to me like The Moment of Truth too. Each member of the family would have to say what they woul like to win. Then someone in the family would be set some ridiculous challenge and given a week to practice it. Then, if they completed it successfully on the show, everyone won their chosen prizes.

Moment of truth is the one alright i'm sure now! Thanks guys!

Just have a memory of a lad trying to build a house of cards to win the stuff

It's probably not too surprising to learn that The Moment of Truth was a Japanese format.

Not all the challenges on it were ridiculous, though - there were some good memory ones too, like reciting the square root of 2 to 100 decimal places.

It ran for four series between '98 and '01, before pretty much getting bundled aside by Simon Cowell's shows...
