Hi Guys, I was going to get Mazda 3 2009 1.6 petrol touring and then that beemer 2007 1.6 115bhp (start&stop button )showed up.Two year warranty with BMW .Never had BMW before btw.
Are those 316 really so bad? ( in comparison to mazda's performance ,reliability and fuel efficiency?) I mean ,both engines seems to be very same 105bhp @6000rpm 145Nm@4000 -mazda,
    115bhp@6000 and 150Nm@4300rpm BMW?
    Thank you

The standard response you'll get is 4 cylinder bmw are not real bmws and underpowered but they are what they are, 1.6 engines which are as good as any other, probably better. It will be a better car than the mazda, just some people dont like the idea of a smaller engine in cars that also offer super larger engines. Every other 1.6 such as focus etc will be deemed fine but I'd wager the BMW is just as fast. I have a 530i, and while its in a different league, the 4 cylinder sub 2.0 are fine cars for the everyday driver. You get what you pay for though, I'd go BMW.

Mazda 1.6 not a rocket to be honest ,as for the BMW 1.6 never had a chance to try it yet .Hopefully it is not worse .

Would be bmw be likely to have coil-pack issues?

If the bmw has a decent spec I'd really be considering it. If its a poor spec one I wouldn't toss the choice of the Mazda out the window.

Drive both see what you think.
See can you get comfortable in them straight away.

I've a 3 and 3series and it's only the fact the 3 has nearly every extra that makes it better place in the barren bottom spec ones I'd put them on par.
