VW Bora - Central locking with button

So I went to the shop today, locked the car with the button as I always do, went to unlock it the same way and it won't work...

Will still lock with the button and will lock and unlock by physically putting the key in the door, so I'm wondering is there just a bad connection in the key itself or has anyone else any experience of this?

    Any ideas?

was going to suggest the battery in the key but if it still locks it should be fine
might be worth opening the key up and making sure everything is clean an nothing has broke

Ok I might try that and have a look around!

Edit: Balls, don't have a screwdriver, will have to take a look some other time! It's locking and unlocking manually anyway without setting off the alarm so no real panic; just a mild inconvenience! :)
