Hyundai Tuscon - a good car?

Hello. I was hoping that some motor forum members might help me out with wisdom (because I have none about cars :), even though I've learned a bit here. The ideas/suggestions that people come up with on other car suggestion threads are always surprising to me - when I search donedeal, carzone etc I never can find ones like the ones people come up with here.

I've been looking at these Tuscons. Mileage is pretty low. Tax is €710 per year. They look nice, have leather seats, roof racks (which is important to me), room for a dog, room for carrying around stuff. Are Tuscans reliable/economical?

I have a car that I will probably get €1000 for when I trade it in. I've also been looking at Volvo 50 estate and WV passat estate - but these are more expensive.

If I get a Tucson is would be about €170 p/m over 3 years - and the car will be 9 years old by then. Would it be better to get a 08 estate for €12,000ish, pay it back over 5 years - and by then the car will be about 10 years old? If I go for the estate option I would be two years longer paying off a car that is getting on in years?

Or do you have any other ideas? The confusement!
