Pixilation on UPC box

Hi there I might have to remain anonymous here when writing this thread.

The high frequency channels (sky sports etc) on my UPC box set are pixelating and freezing every few seconds. Lets just say that the box is for a different house and I have the basic UPC signal. Got the box checked out by UPC in the other house and its fine. UPC confirmed that there are no signal issues out my way.

Anyone ever see this before? Is it something to do with analogue not being capable anymore or maybe UPC are weakening the signal for us analoguers?

Is the actual cable wire for this tv the old Cablelink/Ntl one 12+ years old?. If so its probably become damaged so you probably need it taken out and the newer cable fitted. The old cable is white/grey in colour and the new cable is a thicker black cable.

I had a similar issue on my tv and the upc engineer who came out tested it and it read fine but he said even though the meter reading is saying the cable was sound it doesnt tell the whole story and being such an old cable it has finally gotten frayed over the years and needed changing. The cable was changed soon after and no problems since.
I asked him how common this problem was and he said at the moment about every second call he gets!.

Its a signal issue alright , the signal coming in in`t strong enough , factory reset the stb and check signal quality \ strenght levels .

How do I do that and what should the levels be at?

Go to menu on remote , select settings , factory settings , pin is 0000 , press ok and ok again , mack sure you know activation code, whish is 131 if in dublin . box will shut down itself and come back on itself about 1 min later , choose ireland , enter activation code, next screen has 2 bars for signal quality and strength , quailty should be 100% strenght should be any where above 60%. anything less then theres a signa issue.
