    Hey ladies,
Just hoping to get some opinions here... With my wedding and honeymoon a month away, I was hoping to get a spray tan done but my beautician told me I cant get it done on the bump because of the chemicals.

I've done some online research and seem to find different answers everywhere, some say its safe, some disagree. A lot say avoid the spray due to inhalation but the topical ones like lotion and mousse are fine because they're only absorbed on the top layer of skin which is essentially dead anyway.

Im wondering if and what your experiences are with the various tanning options? I dont want to ask my gp because he's a nazi fossil that I argue with everytime I need to renew my anti nausea pills because thinks word contradicting written in his stupid handbook holds more value than the expert opinion of my OB consultant and midwives. Idiot. (sorry for the mini rant)

    Hi pat McGhee!
    Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
From what I've read spray tans are a no no,due to some of the chemicals. I was given two organic tans off a friend as a present. Tan organic which is nice and can be bought in most pharmacies and the other one is by green people and its their only tan product, I'd say the green people one is truly natural but unfortunately for me the smell was too much and I had to get straight into the shower after I applied it to get it off so I don't know yet how it comes up! Gonna try it after as hopefully I won't be so sensitive to smells!
I know the skin can react differently to products when pregnant so if you have a few weeks maybe you should do a bit of trial and error and when you find a topical one you like your beautician could apply it so it'll be perfect on the day!

Hi cant26, thanks for the reply!
You've pretty much confirmed what I've read about the spray tan so I think best to avoid altogether. I'll defo check out the organic tans though coz I'd really like the option of wearing a bikini on my honeymoon (med cruise!) I'll only be 21 weeks (16 at the mo and not showing yet) so I think I wont quite resemble a beached whale. :-)

I hear ya re the smells! How far along are you? My sensitivity has settled a bit in the last 2 weeks, thank god, but I can still chicken from a mile away! Nasty...

Ya definately give them a go. Think you can only get the green people one in health food shops like evergreen. Just be warned it stinks!! Think the tan organic might be better.
It's not so much that I have any specific smell aversions I just have a really heightened sense of smell since I was about 6weeks. I'm 33 weeks now. Time is flying!!
You'll definately not be a beached whale if your bit showing yet! The bit of tan always makes me feel a bit better! I feel like a beached whale now even though I've been lucky as nothing has really changed except my ever expanding stomach.
A med cruise will be so lovely for you. You'll get to do loads of chilling and at the same time you'll feel like your seeing things!!

I'm 7 months pregnant & I've a spray tan on me right now because of a big family function we had this weekend. My sister also got one when she was pregnant. I've never heard of them been full of chemicals or not recommended while pregnant. I'm based in Dublin so PM me if you want the details of the girl I went too and she can let you know which tan she used.

Thanks for all the advice ladies, but we're sorted now. I met with her at the weekend and we had a good discussion - she did some research and we're good to go! Only 3 weeks now :-D
