About 1500ft of elevation gain per 10 mile loop (30 mile trail run) in central Illinois. I was meant to run Caballo Blanco Ultra in Urique, Mexico but plans fell through last minute. The estimated total climb is 9,300 feet with equal descent.

IMRA Galtees race. 1340m climb in c. 13km distance and on open mountain too.

Mangerton IMRA race was 2300 feet (700 meters) up and then down again in just under 10k.

As for a road race, The Gauntlet half marathon features about 1400 feet (425 meters) in elevation change in 2 climbs.

I did a few training runs last year where I crossed Windy Gap (near Caragh Lake in Kerry 4 times. My Garmin gave me just under 3000 feet for that one run.

That's of course nothing compared to the kind of training real ultra runners are doing e.g. Scott Jurek regularly ran Mount Si 3 times in a row at 3,500 feet each.

Not the biggest elevation, but one of my most memorable was running up a trail in Yosemite national park, up to the Nevada Falls. 600m climb in around 5k, but worth every step it for the spectacular views.

Hoping to do the Swiss Alpine marathon this summer, which has 1,840m of climb, but I'll not be racing it. Just doing it for the craic.

OK I admit it, I should be studying ;)
I know I'm straying slightly off topic but interesting (to me anyway) to compare across sports.

Taken from my garmin connect page so the elevations are not 100% accurate. My Galteemore is much less than Slogger Joggers for instance..

    Warriors Run, Strandhill 400m
    Dublin Marathon 430m
    3 Rock NPS MTB 515m
    Powerscourt Ridge 925m
    World Masters Poland 1030m
    Carantoohill 1180m
    Des Hanlon A3 1235
    Galteemore 1225m
    Gaelforce 6 1260m
    Circuit of Avonbeg 1303m
    WAR Powerscourt 1360m
Marathon XC MTB Champs Ballyhoura 1525m
Des Hanlon A1/A2 (someone elses Strava) 1750m

And I wasn't wearing a Garmin for the MMM but I presume that's a good high number as well.
